Job Opportunity: Secondary Spanish Teacher

SECONDARY SPANISH TEACHER

Plan, develop, and implement a program of study for high school students in the Spanish language, ensuring program meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of secondary students who take part in the foreign language program and foster awareness and appreciation of the Spanish culture and its impact on its community, country, and the world. Provide instruction on fundamentals and survival skills in the Spanish language through classroom teaching and interactive oral proficiency opportunities. Facilitate students' ability to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish and manage a multilevel class of Spanish learners. Work with students, parents, staff, and the community and complete all administrative tasks, including assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and providing progress reports as required, communicating with parents and school administration, and attending conferences, seminars and other programs. Employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting program objectives. Assist District specialists in identifying and working with students with special needs and plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and/or volunteer(s) as well as maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, District policies, and administrative regulations. Classes taught may be in more than one school building requiring travel between schools. 

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Foreign Language(s), or related field. Must have a valid Iowa Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement(s). Last Day of School Update

Due to the Football team making it to the UNI dome for playoffs and school being cancelled on Nov. 14 the last day of school as of 1/2/2015 will now be Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

GO RAIDERS! Semi-Final Game Information

Some information about Friday's semifinal contest:

Mount Ayr is the home team for this game, so we will be on the east sideline and Raider fans will sit in the east stands.

Tickets for the semifinal round are $10 for everyone kindergarten & up. Advance tickets may be purchased in the Supts office beginning at 7:45am on Monday. You will get into the Dome MUCH faster if you have your tickets ahead of time!

The first semifinal (Denver vs Gladbrook-Reinbeck) kicks off at 10:06am. Your ticket is valid for both of the Class A semifinal games.

Parking is $5 per car in the lots surrounding the Dome.

A pep bus will be offered to both students and adults. Cost is $15 for students and $20 for adults. This price includes your game ticket. You must sign up with Diana in the HS principal's office. Elem students must be accompanied by a parent or other adult. The bus will leave at 8:00am from the high school.

There is NO SCHOOL on Friday!

Spectator Information from the Athletic Association:

No seating in the first row of the stands

No artificial noisemakers

No signs, banners, flags, posters, fatheads, etc...

Shirt & shoes are required to be worn at all times

No masks or helmets may be worn

The Uni-Dome staff recommends NO BAGS be brought to the game. All purses, bags, etc will be searched and may be confiscated. No food or drink may be brought into the Dome.

There is NO SMOKING allowed anywhere on the UNI campus. Violators will be issued a citation by security staff - there will be no warnings.

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences

Fall Parent-Teacher  Conferences will be help Nov. 4 and Nov. 6 from 3-7. There will be early outs at 1:10 both of those days with Friday, Nov. 7 being a No School Day.

2014-2015 School Registration Dates Set

Registration this year will be August 4 from 11:00am-7pm and August 5 from 9am-12. Registration will be held in the High School Commons.
