Elementary School
Welcome to Mt. Ayr Elementary School!
First Day of School Flag Raising
I would like to personally welcome everyone to Mt. Ayr Elementary School. As the elementary principal, I am looking forward to collaborating with staff, students, and parents as students progress through their elementary years.
Mt. Ayr Elementary School has approximately 320 students in Pre-K through 6th grade. Our school offers a full day and two half-day Little Raider Preschool programs. Students must turn four years old by September 15th to attend preschool. Our preschool programs are located in the Family Resource Center and have an excellent early childhood special education (ECSE) program. Our ECSE students are integrated into the Little Raider Preschool program. Mt. Ayr Elementary has three sections of Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and 3rd grade. This allows us to keep our class size at 20 or below for those grade levels. We currently have two sections of 4th-6th grades.
Mt. Ayr Elementary School is proud to offer many programs to our students including Title I Reading and Math programs, Talented and Gifted program, physical education, music, art, and library skills. Our elementary also offers band to 5th and 6th graders. Mt. Ayr Elementary uses Character Counts to help students learn life skills that are needed to function successfully in society. A few examples are: respecting others, communicating effectively, accepting responsibility for one’s actions, and working with others.
Integration of technology into the classroom is a high priority at Mt. Ayr Community Schools. Our students are able to utilize technology on a daily basis. At Mt. Ayr Elementary School, students have access to laptops and iPads in every classroom.
Mt. Ayr Elementary School is very fortunate to have a tremendous staff, as well as an outstanding facility. Communication between home and school is key to a successful education. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or me so we can provide assistance with any questions or concerns and work together to help your child(ren) have a wonderful year at Mt. Ayr Elementary School.
Go Raiders and Raiderettes!
